Yoga Pilates Tai-Chi

Yoga is an ancient 5,000 year old discipline of mind body practices. It literally means union. Anyone can do yoga as it can be modified for every body type, any age and it is completely non competitive. We teach Hatha Yoga, Ha means Sun/ physicality, tha means Moon/Mind so it aims to bring balance to our body and Mind.

Yoga will give you increased flexibility, strength, stamina and energy. You will enjoy: Better posture, increased range of movement throughout the whole body, better digestion and circulation, Yoga reduces stress and increases your “feel good hormones”, finally you’ll have more energy, and a better night’s sleep.

Shelagh Hayman is our Yoga teacher. Shelagh has been practising yoga for 30 years and is a qualified yoga instructor. She teaches all the classic Yoga poses to stretch and strengthen the whole body, some breath awareness and exercises to increase energy and reduce stress and finish off with a peaceful relaxation to bring harmony to the mind. Shelagh believes Yoga can benefit everyone - you don’t need to be flexible as we are all a work in progress.

Why not come along to Running Wild and give it a go!!!

Pilates is not just a form of exercise, it is a method of stretching and strengthening your body. It is designed to develop your body’s core through balancing, stretching, strengthening and breathing. It encourages you to harmoniously stimulate your brain and your body.

Pilates (floor/ mat classes) combine a series of low impact exercises as a great workout for your abdominals, but also: assists in aligning the body, stretches and strengthens the body, provides a sense of well being and leads to increased energy levels.

Allida Mulfari is our Pilates instructor. She has trained in several modalities including Yoga, Pilates and Group Fitness, is registered with Fitness Australia and has been teaching a variety of group exercise classes for over 4 years. Allida believes Pilates supports a person’s daily physical functions by creating a stronger core, assisting in body awareness and posture. She adapts her classes so that students can not only work within their comfort zone but also challenge themselves to go a little further. A strong emphasis is on the precision of exercises helping to develop the students own body awareness making them feel more comfortable and present in both their bodies and minds.

Allida hopes that her students leave class feeling energised, strengthened and looser from stretching. Along with that, taking with them the tools to better help with the demands of daily life.

The energy levels we develop during our morning Tai-Chi and Chi-Kung exercise can carry us happily through a busy day. So why not try practising Tai-Chi. What better way to experience a fresh start to each day with an exercise that is suitable for all age groups, fit or unfit. Apart from the general feeling of well-being, improved posture, suppleness, relief from anxiety, insomnia, helping to stabilise blood pressure, the benefits are many.

At Running Wild Fitness, our classes are conducted in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Our instructor, Pat Jeffery, enjoys seeing the benefits the joy of practising the art of Tai-Chi has brought to the many students she has taught over the past 20 years.
