1. Do I have to become a member?

At Running Wild there is no membership or joining fee. You can pay for each visit on a casual basis. We do offer 5, 10 or 20 visit passes where you pay up front and receive a discounted price for each visit. We also offer a 12 week unlimited pass. Pilates, Yoga and Tai Chi are offered as a 10 week course and these you need to pay for up front.


2. Can I pay when I visit?

Yes, you can ‘pay as you go’ as a casual, each time you come to the gym or to a class. Or you can purchase a multi visit card. Payment is by cash, cheque or bank transfer, (Please note that we do not have a credit facility.)


3. How can I use the gym for a workout?

It is advisable to have a fitness assessment before you start. From the assessment a gym programme is devised taking into account your medical history & goals. However, if you know what you want to do in the gym, you can do your own workout.


4. Do I have to have a fitness assessment if I only want to attend classes?

No, you just need to fill out a medical questionnaire.


5. Can I just turn up for a class?

Yes, you can just turn up for a class. However, it is advisable to phone and check that the class is on.
For the Spin classes you do need to book a bike, by writing your name in the Spin book for the appropriate date or by phoning the gym. Please note: there are 12 spin bikes
Also for Yoga, Pilates & Tai Chi – you must be booked in for the ten week course or at the discretion of the instructor.


6. What do you do in the gym?

The gym has a range of cardio equipment, gym equipment and weights. The Cardio equipment includes – treadmills, bikes, cross trainers and rowers.
Gym equipment – a multi station, leg press, leg curl, bench press, weights, fit balls, mats.
Depending on your goals, medical history and level of fitness an individual program is devised using the above equipment.
Each program is approximately one hour but you may stay for a shorter or longer time.


7. What do you do in the Aerobics room?

The aerobics room is a large open space that is used for various group exercise programs and classes. Current classes include Zumba, Dance Aerobics,Tai chi, Pilates, Yoga, Beginners Strength, Butt, Abs & Thighs, Mitts & Pads Boxing, Circuits, Gentle Exercise & Active Balance.


8. Do all your staff have Fitness and First Aid Qualifications?

Yes, we only employ qualified staff.


9. After I have had an assessment and I have my program am I ‘on my own’?

No, the instructor in the gym will supervise you and correct your technique if necessary. If a program needs to be altered this is done. After 12 visits the program is changed or upgraded.


10. I’ve never been to a gym before? What do I wear and what do I bring?

Wear comfortable clothes that you can move freely in and enclosed shoes or joggers. Bring a towel and a bottle of water.


11. I’m too overweight/old to attend a gym?

At Running Wild Fitness we specialise in the mature adult and cater to those who are intimidated by the larger fitness centres. We aim to make you feel welcome and comfortable. You are never too old or too unfit to exercise as we guide you through your program. We have men and women attending the gym ranging in age from 12 years to 95 years!


12. Do I have to attend the same session every time I come?

No, you can come in any open session. Naturally some sessions are busier than others. It is advisable to get into a routine and make exercise part of your weekly timetable


13.Who can come to Running Wild?

Everyone is welcome. Unlike many gyms you don’t have to be fit before you start! You will be made to feel welcome & comfortable & we encourage people to have a chat with whoever is in the gym at the same time. Many of our clients have particular medical issues & this will be reflected in the programs they are given. We can always find an exercise that suits you.

 

14. How often should I attend the gym or classes?

For general fitness and weight loss you should do a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise per day. This could comprise of gym visits, aerobic or other classes, walking, swimming etc. Some clients visit Running Wild once a week, twice a week and some we see most days – the choice is yours!
