DESCRIPTION OF CLASSES


Aerobics Classes Mind & Body Specialist Programmes

CIRCUIT
A fast paced class where you compete against yourself on a variety of exercises and resistance equipment. The more you put into this class, the more you get out of it!
Ideal for all levels of fitness.

SENIOR CIRCUIT
A fun class circuit where you can go at your own pace doing cardio and resistance work.

MITTS & PADS BOXING
An intensive boxing session where you are partnered up with someone of a similar build and standard. A tremendous fat burner, body toner and stress reliever. Ideal for intermediate – advanced.

BOXING CIRCUIT
An intense one hour class utilising boxing equipment and boot camp cardio moves. A moderate to high level of fitness is suggested for this class.

BUTT, ABS & THIGHS (BAT)
A non-impact floor class using body weight, bars and bands to strengthen and tone. A lot of focus is given to core stability issues. Ideal for beginners – intermediate.

SPIN
An intensive work out on a stationery bike that really burns the calories.

BODY BLITZ
A mostly upper body workout to music - work at your own level to music.

GYM CIRCUIT
Join Jenny or Merridy for a 60 min circuit using the equipment in the gym. A different workout every time.

zZUMBA
zZumba uses Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a very different fitness program. The class is an absolute blast - one hour of calorie burning , body energising, awe inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate you for life! Its fun and suitable for men and women of all ages. Our initial class at Running Wild Fitness saw an age range from 15 years through to 70+ years! Come and see what all the fuss is about.................. it's refreshingly different.

 

PILATES
Pilates is not just a form of exercise, it is a method of stretching and strengthening your body. It is designed to develop your body’s core through balancing, stretching, strengthening and breathing. It encourages you to harmoniously stimulate your brain and your body.
Pilates (floor/ mat classes) combine a series of low impact exercises as a great workout for your abdominals, but also: assists in aligning the body, stretches and strengthens the body, provides a sense of well being and leads to increased energy levels.

YOGA
A 10 week course in Hatha Yoga where control of the body through correct posture and right breathing; control of the emotions and the mind; meditation and contemplation are practised.

TAI CHI
A 10 week course where mind, body and spirit are all exercised simultaneously by this one ancient Chinese health exercise. Perfect too for seniors with balance issues and arthritis.

BEGINNER STRENGTH TRAINING
A 10 week course (1 hour each week) where you learn the correct way to lift weights. This is ideal for women aged 50+, for general fitness and/or those concerned about osteoporosis.

HEARTMOVES
A 30 minutes class deal for people who are managing lifelong health conditions such as heart problems and diabetes, arthritis, lung and chest conditions, as well as those with risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, overweight, depression, etc. Programs are specifically designed to be safe for people with these types of health conditions and the trained and accredited leaders operate within a set of safety guidelines. This makes the programs ideal for people after they have completed Cardiac Rehabilitation, Diabetes Education, or other Rehabilitation programs.


ACTIVE BALANCE (formerly Falls Prevention)
A one hour class aimed at those who are frail with age or disabilities. The focus is on practicing every day activities such as reaction time, gait control, coordination, strength & endurance in a safe environment. Age is no barrier in this class.


CANOEING/KAYAKING
Ever wanted to try canoeing/kayaking and never had the chance? Come and have a splash. Suitable for any age or fitness level, as long as you can swim! Group or individual coaching available, all equipment supplied.

OPEN SESSIONS
This is the time on the timetable set aside for cardio and resistance training. You must have had an initial consultation (which included a fitness assessment & development of a personalised strength training programme ). Ideal for all ages, body shapes and levels of fitness.
